I was born in 1971 and live in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Since a young age I have been travelling and my long trips to foreign countries and cultures started my passion for photography. With the Swiss Alps right on my doorstep, this awesome mountain landscape and its unique wildlife made me take images of my home environment aswell and pushed me further and further into nature photography.
To me, it is not really about the picture that I have on my computerscreen at the end of the day. Don’t get me wrong, having a great image on the card is amazing. But the camera gives me a real excuse of getting out there, visiting known and exploring new places, observing wildlife and not having to think of anything else. Basically it is about enjoying nature in this particular moment. I love nature.
My numerous trips to Southern Africa played a very big role in the progress of being a photographer. I allways enjoyed going back to its lovely people, wild countryside and amazing wildlife – especially to the Kalahari. What I love about wildlife and nature photography in this part of the world is the friendliness and hospitality of the people who share this passion. I have made good friends around campfires or during wildlife sightings and those people have allways been very helpful to me. Thank you very much.
But I’m a traveler by heart and other places still interest me a lot, no matter if they are near or far.
